| The DCR is built by Barry Brickell who was making pottery for his living and acquired this hill to do his business. The train and tracks was built initially to bring pottery down to the potteries below. It's also his vision to re-plant the lost kauri trees that was destroyed during the colonial days. Seen here is a unique double-track bridge. The train itself is pretty simple and safe to say you don't really feel safe in it. But hey, they've been doing this for years, so it's gotta be safe rite? |
